I just had a baby and was at 235, so far I've lost 10 pounds, and my goal is 160. So far I have been eating a breakfast at about 270 calories and then working out. But I watched the doctor oz show yesterday and he said you should work out before breakfast to burn fat. I would have no problem doing that but I also heard that you should eat breakfast within an hour of waking up or your metabolism is shot for the day. It takes me more than an hour to wake up, tend for my 2 month old, and work out. So am I ultimately hurting myself waiting about an hour and a half to eat breakfast, or will I reap more benefits by working out first, even if it's more than an hour. Thanks in advance for any help.

if i'm going to do morning cardio i'd wait till after the workout to eat. you burn a lot more calories on an empty stomach. if you need food before you workout, like something to get you going have a little piece of chicken or fruit or something small then have a bigger meal.
The way I learned was to eat a snack like a granola bar and drink some water (not too much) in the morning before you work out. That way you have something immediate to burn off, but you're not working out on a full stomach.
i would eat before your workout because not eating in the morning is not good for you. Even just having like two eggs for breakfest is good enough. And if your trying to lose weight i wpuldent eat fruits with breakfest cause of sugars. And no bread too many carbs
protein &fat before but carbs only after (or never)
I know this from personal experience and previous trainers telling me so. If you find it difficult working out on nothing, eat something like a pear. A banana wont digest properly and you might start to feel it come up. I very strongly advise AGAINST anything dairy(coffee, milk, cheese, yoghurt etc).
I can usually work out on nothing but if i'm feeling like i need something i'll have a little bit of solid fruit and a small glass of water.
btw, when you do eat your proper breakfast eat within half an hour
8 egg whites / black coffee / water before asyour glycogen is low after sleep so working out with just thatmealwould promote fat burning….
